Ashlyn contacted me after seeing a couple of proposal videos I made for some other clients. While the other ones involved me filming the proposal in secret (like Uri’s Proposal HERE) Ashlyn wanted to use the film we created as part of the actual proposal. His plan was to lure his girlfriend to a theater where the film would play, and then he would appear to pop the question.
He definitely had a vision of how he wanted it to come together, and so we met for coffee to hash out more of the details. Since he lives in NY, but wanted to incorporate some local central Jersey locations like The Menlo Park Mall, and the George Street Playhouse (where he planned to propose), he got a hotel room to film some scenes of him waking up, and then we used the hotel gym for some working out shots. I loved the Batman PJs, and thought it would be great to use the batman theme from recent movies, and start and stop it as he kept hitting the alarm.
It was important to Ashlyn to incorporate some of their family and friends, who offered encouragement to his future fiance to “Say Yes”, and also got some advice from her parents. Ashlyn filmed some of the footage on his cell phone, and all their friends submitted their footage on cell phones as well. You can see there are some vertical videos (a no-no in the film world), but what can you do, that’s how people use their cells.
Ashlyn was great to work with, and was ready to play the part well. We had a great time filming it, and I’m thrilled to say she said yes. Their wedding is planned for this August and I hope to be a part of it.
