Truly great clients

Jasmine and Jonathan came in to meet with me several months ago about their wedding. They knew right away they wanted Creative Unlimited to capture their day, but money was tight and so they started off by booking us for 2 camera raw coverage to at least have amazing raw footage. If you’re on a budget, it’s the way to go, to ensure you still get a great video.

At the meeting Jonathan joked about getting a second job so he could upgrade to an edited package. A few weeks later he surprised me with a message to say that’s exactly what he did, he got a second job as a teacher’s assistant, and they wanted to upgrade their package. He was actually very happy about it, with the extra money from the second job, he was able to take care of all of the wedding bills, and even paid us in full early. I was like “Are you sure, you really don’t have to, the final balance isn’t due until 2 months after”, but Jonathan and Jasmine wanted no bills to pay after the wedding.

We get a lot of calls from people “on a budget” lately. Of course, everyone’s still having a dream wedding, but when it comes to video they’re “on a budget”. Jasmine and Jonathan said, we’re on a budget, but we’re going to do what we can to fit you into our budget. As much as any client we book with no complaints about the cost, these two were just a wonderful reminder that if you think it’s worth it, you’ll make it work. That goes for anything in life. I feel truly blessed to have such great clients, and I mean all my clients, but I definitely appreciate Jasmine and Jonathan working hard to have us be a part of their day.

Me, Jasmine, Jonathan and Dave

The wedding was this past Saturday, November 7th. Dave started a little earlier then me with Jonathan and the guys in Newark NJ. I started with Jasmine and the girls in Woodhaven, NY. Queens baby (I grew up in Flushing). It was a flurry of hair and makeup. I got some great outtakes of “teased” hair, haha. Wow it gets big. Jonathan stopped by to drop off rings (without seeing his bride), and told me they had a lot of fun with Dave at the house, and he got some crazy shots. Can’t wait to see that footage.

The Ceremony was at the Jesus Revival Church, also in Woodhaven. I overheard the pastor telling Jonathan about how that moment was like the world series, final game, top of the ninth, bases loaded, and Jonathan could win the series with his hit. Haha, of course a baseball analogy this time of year. The ceremony was very sweet, and provided a few laughs as Jonathan shouted “YES I DOOOO!!!” when asked, haha. Jasmine replied the same, they had everyone laughing. The couple also sang a beautiful song too, with some great harmonies. Really well done actually, they’re very musical.

We stopped at the J train station after the ceremony for some really cool shots by the turnstyles and on the platform, and then we went to a nearby park. Jonathan shared about how they walked all over the city when the were dating, just walking and talking, which prompted a walking and talking shot, haha. The reception was at Il Palazzo by Villa Russo in South Richmond Hill, NY. It provided us with some unique opportunities because of a wrap around balcony for their room, which Dave used to capture some great shots of their entrances, and first dance. He ran up there for the ChaCha slide too, haha. Nothing like aerial shots of line dancing.

Instead of the garter (although she did toss the boquet), the couple played a newlywed game with their shoes. They each held one of their own, and one of the other’s, and the DJ asked a few questions like “Who’s the better driver?, Who made the first move?, Who hogs the sheets?” and they would hold up her shoe or his, or sometimes both. It was cute, my first time seeing that game.

This couple was just a joy to be around. They are very happy together and were very happy to have us at the wedding. It was just a beautiful day. I really go out of my way to make every couple feel special, and somehow my clients always make me feel special too. Thanks guys, and congratulations.

From Radison to Addison

We had a couple of great weddings this weekend. I already got a great review from Lauren and Dan. Here’s what they have to say:
“Eric,
Thank you for filming our wedding this past Saturday at Addison Park. Dan and I had an amazing time and everyone in our bridal party thought you were great- easy to work with and very friendly. The picture of you in the photo booth was awesome!EVERYONE cannot wait to see your finished product. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your weekend. And again, great job and thank you for making our wedding run so smoothly.

First Stephanie and Kevin got hitched. I started at Stephanie’s while Dave was with the Kevin and the guys. Got the chance to work with David and Amy Lau photography, LAUUUUU!!! Their always nice. I took Stephanie’s dress outside for a sweet shot hanging on the picket fence out back, the maid of honor stood serious guard while I did that, haha. Of course, I was careful and it’s in the name of art, but not a smudge baby, as usual. Stephanie looked gorgeous, and was all smiles all day long 🙂

The day continued at their St. Cecelia’s Church in Iselin, NJ and then we shot over to the Crystal Ballroom at the Radisson in Freehold, NJ. That was my first time there. Nice place though. Made friends with the fajita and pasta girls, haha. Great party, it was fun to see them both out on the dance floor. Kevin has some moves.

The next day I was flying solo for Lauren and Dan’s wedding at Addison Park. I started with Lauren getting ready. Lauren looked amazing in her gown, and was very cool and collected. I’ve never gotten so many thanks for every compliment, but a beautiful bride, and beautiful friends, makes for an easy day for me. Luckily, all my brides are beautiful 😉

After getting ready we went over to Addison Park in Aberdeen, NJ so Lauren and Dan could see eachother for the first time, and get all their shots done before the ceremony. It was a very sweet moment, and we worked quickly to get everything they needed, and then the ceremony started as the sun was setting. Beautiful, but thankfully our cameras work well in low light because it was getting dark.

The reception was awesome. They partied and danced the whole time, even grandma and grandpa got out there a few times. Jay from Sound Connection DJ’s was doing his thing. I helped him with his video blog, by providing the light, haha, but we had a great time together as usual. They had a photobooth, which I love, so I got a shot for myself, but also left one for the couple in their album below, using some napkins to deliver my message. I even got a keepsake at the end of the night, one of several leftover favors a nice glass with the Rutgers R, and their names and wedding date. Now evertime I drink from it, I’ll think of them. Maybe I should give out mugs too, haha. Good idea 😉 Congrats guys.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take out my still cam for some pics at Stephanie and Kevin’s wedding, but I did at Lauren’s wedding. Here are a few fun ones:
