Wedding at The Imperia in Somerset

We had a great wedding this past weekend right in our neighborhood at the Imperia on Easton of Somerset, NJ.  The bride, Faith, was getting ready just across the street from our office at the Double Tree Hotel.  The groom, Ed, at their home 3 minutes away.  I was with Faith, and Rahim was capturing the guys getting ready.Faith was very laid back and when I arrived they were watching Panic Room.  I got them caught up on the finer points of the film, being that my memory for movies is amazingly detailed and accurate, haha.

The ceremony was at the historic Kirkpatrick Chapel in New Brunswick, and it was an interfaith Christian and Jewish wedding, with my favorite Rabbi Tobin.  The ceremony went really well, one of the bridesmaids sang a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria,  opera style, very sweet.  The only “outtake” moment came when one of the groomsmen realized a little too late that the runner hadn’t gone up the aisle, and so about halfway up the aisle he met up with Faith and her Dad.  The look on his face was priceless, haha, but they were able to maneuver around him, and I’m sure it will be a story they’ll be sharing for many years, unfortunately for that groomsman, haha.

Afterwards we got some great shots on the church grounds with photographer Erica Lyn.  She was a lot of fun to work with and we worked off each other very well.  Faith and Ed were very open to being creative with some shots. That always helps. The reception followed at The Imperia in Somerset, just around the corner from our office.  You can’t ask for anything better than that.

The reception was a lot of fun, and there was plenty of great dance footage.  We captured a very sweet moment with Faith’s Grandparents dancing to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Wow, 50 years. Her grandparents are so cute together, I honestly got choked up watching them hold each other and dance by their table. Her grandfather got to me, cause he was getting emotional too. Really great to see love so strong so many years later.

Faith and Ed were out on the dance floor a lot.  Always a good idea at your own wedding 🙂 I was able to grab them for one quick effect shot in the Imperia lobby using their beautiful staircase for a Stop-Motion effect. At the end of the night there was a Candy Buffet featuring some favorites like gummy bears, peanut butter cups, whoppers, hershey’s kisses, and I’m clearly getting too detailed about the candy, but I enjoyed bagging some up for later, as did the other guests.  It was demolished, haha.  Mmmm.  Congrats Faith and Ed on a beautiful wedding.

Jersey Shore Wedding Videographer – Jessica and Kenny

We filmed Jessica and Kenny’s wedding on May 8th. We started off at the Ocean Place resort and spa in Long Branch. Jessica was getting ready with her bridesmaids and parents. It was very laid back as everyone got their makeup done. We got a really cool Stop-Motion shot with her flowers and dress. I know they’ll love that one. It was perfect weather, sunny but with a cool breeze.

I left Dave behind with the girls while I went to Seven Presidents beach to get set up for the ceremony and get some shots of Kenny and the guys. They were nicely dressed in their khaki suits. I like light colors, of course it makes sense on the beach, matches the sand, plus Dave and I are the only dummies wearing black on a sunny day at the beach, haha.

The ceremony went beautifully. They were handing out seashells and the guests were instructed to place them in a circle in which Jessica and Kenny would take their vows. The female officiant did a great job, she told the story of how Jessica and Kenny met at Bar Anticipation (Bar A). They even know one of our friends, since we used to hang out there a lot too, haha. Small Jersey. What was funny about the story is that Jessica is the one that initiated things with Kenny, and after all these years she finally admitted during the ceremony that when she went up to him and said “Don’t I know you from somewhere”, that it was totally a pickup line and she had never met him before, haha. Everyone got a kick out of that.

It was great working with the photographers, and talking business with them over dinner. They actually filmed our friends wedding, the one that Jessica and Kenny happen to know as well, so again, Small Jersey. I’ve seen those pics, and they were great. We definitely got a lot of great stuff on the beach with Jessica and Kenny and their bridal party.

The reception was at McLoone’s Pier House. Nice place, great view of the ocean. The party went well, there were some great speeches, and a lot of fun dancing. Thankfully they got 2 camera coverage, because the way the room was set up, it really helped for getting some great reaction shots during speeches. Jessica and Kenny are just a really sweet couple, and they had a lot of nice touches throughout their wedding. From the lemonade stand by their ceremony, to the delicious yogurt covered pretzels for their guests to take home at the end of the night, it was all very nicely done. Congrats you guys on a great wedding.

More photo fun

My girlfriend Abbie and I headed out to Deep Cut Gardens in Middletown, NJ for the day. I’m really glad she’s willing to model for me, she’s beautiful. I like to try new things and play with photography, as it’s important to experiment and stay sharp. Also, I take some shots we’ve done in the past at weddings so we have some really beautiful shots for our own personal album, haha. Another great day, and some more fun photos.

Eharmony worked for me

I met Abbie on Eharmony, and we hit it off.  I guess those personality profiles really work.  She’s gorgeous and we have a great time together, so what more can you ask for.  I always bring my camera with me when we’re out and we end up taking a lot of fun pictures. You can do a lot with a tiny tripod, a camera with a timer, and a girlfriend that puts up with my nonsense, haha. Just thought I would share some of my early favorites. These were taken at Sandy Hook.  Fun day trip if you’ve never been.

***UPDATE***: Abbie and I are now engaged and getting married on November 26th, 2010. Another Eharmony commercial maybe?
